This tutorial is about how to draw a snail which is not an insect it is a mollusk. They don't have bone only a soft body with muscles. Snails are always depicted as cute animals in cartoon movies and series. They have a hard shell in which they hide their head whenever feels any danger. They are very small in length from a few inches to 50 inches.

If you also want to draw your own snail then just go with the tutorial. This step-by-step tutorial will help you in doing so. You need a paper, pencil, a black pen or marker to outline and an eraser.

How to draw a Snail

Step 1: To draw a snail you need to start with a circle whose one side is overlapped or as a semicircle circle.

Step 2: Draw an oval to predict the head of the snail followed by the geometrical shape depicted as in the below picture.

Step 3: Draw a line from the top of the circle going toward the bottom of it, it will form an opposite of L shape also draw 2 antennae on the head using 2 lines with a small circle.

Step 4: Draw another line to the antenna and add rectangular guidelines for the shell, always draw guidelines with the light hand don't pressurize too much.

Step 5: Using the drawn guideline over the shell draw an inward spiral also add some tentacles on the lower portion of the head.

Step 6: To delineate the antenna draw a small circle at the base of it, draw a curved line in between the head and the shell.

Step 7: Work on the rest of the body of the snail, draw a straight line with a little curve in between and add a few more details by observing the given image.

Step 8: Add the curved line in a circular pattern on the shell, and contour your drawing with some details.

Step 9: Once you are finished with the details and contouring erase extra lines and guidlines.

How to draw a cartoon Snail:

Step 1: To start your drawing use a long, squiggly line and double it with another same line. Head for your snail will be formed.

Step 2: Enclose the snail's head and then draw a c shape at the back. Draw it in a manner that it should look big and bulky. Then further enclose it with the curved line and extend it a little outward from the c shape.

Step 3: From the below end of the shell draw a spiral moving inward direction.

Step 4: Draw a triangular curved shape using two lines at the back of the snail's shell. The tail for the animal is ready.

Step 5: Draw 2 pairs of simple lines on the top of the head to draw an eye.

Step 6: On the drawn double lines draw 2 round shapes eye is done.

Step 7: Draw 2 round spots inside the eye, and draw a curved mouth.

Step 8: Color the snail with a combination of dark green and light green color and add black color to the eyes.
